On the morning of February 25, 2021, the National Conference on Poverty Alleviation was held in the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, which praised the advanced units and individuals in poverty alleviation. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Chairman of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, presented the award to the national models of poverty alleviation. Prof. Sun Jianshe of HEBAU was awarded as“the National Advanced Individual in Poverty Alleviation”.
Prof. Sun Jianshe has been working in Taihang Mountain and the main apple producing areas all over the country for 38 years. He sticks to scientific and technological poverty alleviation in Taihang Mountain, brings new apple varieties, technologies and conception into rural areas, and explores a new path of industrial poverty alleviation. Many local farmers call him "Prof. Apple".
On November 10, 2020, the dedication of the Innovation Base of the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Information Technology of the Ministry of Agriculture&Rural Areas and the Key Laboratory of Agricultural Big Data of Hebei Province was held in the library of West Campus, HEBAU. Zhao Chunjiang, an outstanding alumnus of HEBAU and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Rao Guisheng, Secretary of the Party committee of HEBAU; Shen Shuxing, President of HEBAU attended the ceremony. Zhao Chunjiang delivered an academic report entitled "Digital Technology Promotes High Quality Development of Agriculture" which analyzed the current situation of agricultural production domestically and abroad, expounded the advantages of digital technology in promoting the high-quality development of agriculture, showed the typical application scenarios of digital technology in field smart agriculture and animal smart production, and looked forward to the broad prospects of smart agriculture. More than 500 people, including heads of relevant departments and colleges, young faculties and graduates, listened to the report. President Shen Shuxing presided over the conference.
Recently, Sun Yanfeng, an associate professor of the College of Oceanography, HEBAU and members of his research group jointly published a letter article entitled "Aquaculture Jeopardizes Migrating Oriental Stores" in Science. Recently, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration released the list of the second batch of“Forestry and Grassland Science and Technology Innovation Teams”, and the team of HEBAU,“Li Baoguo Characteristic Economic Forest Industrious Innovation Team”, led by Prof. Qi Guohui, was selected. Recently, ZhangPeipei, a faculty member oftheCollegeofPlantProtection, HEBAU,won the "Jeanie Borlaug Laube Women in Triticum Early Career Award" in recognition ofherachievements inwheatrustresistancegenetics and herpotential leadership in promoting world agricultural development.Sheis the thirdChinesewinnerof the prizesinceitsestablishmentin 2010. This year,5young female scientists from Germany, India, Ethiopia, Uruguay and China,won the award. At present, 55 female scientists around the world have won the awardin all.
At the plenary session of the Romanian Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences(AAFS) held on December 11, 2019, Liu Mengjun was elected as a foreign member of AAFS by anonymous vote (Romanian academician). Liu Mengjun is the first foreign academician from China in Romanian history.
