1. On November 28th,theChinese Academy of Sciences formally announced the newly increased names of academiciansin 2017, among which Guo Zijian, the graduate ofHEBAUin 1982and the professor of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Nanjing University, was elected as the academician oftheChinese Academy of Sciences in Chemical Department.
2. On November 27th, theChinese Academy of Engineering announced the result of newly increased names of academicians, among the 67 newly increased names, Zhao Chunjiang, graduated fromtheCollege of Agronomy,HEBAUin 1985 was elected as the academician oftheChinese Academy of Engineering inAgriculturalDepartment. Heisthe youngest one among the 8 newly increased academicians inAgriculturalDepartment, and also the first one inIntellectualAgronomyArea. Zhao Chunjiang,currently, is thedirector ofBeijing Agriculture and ForestryInformationTechnologyResearchCenter,the director of theNationalAgriculturalInformationTechnologyResearchCenter,the chief expertandthedirector of theAgriculturalInformationTechnology key laboratory of theMinistryof Agriculture.
3. Recently, Prof.Zhang Mengjie,majored inAgriculturalMachineryDesign andManufacture,graduated fromHEBAUin 1989, was elected as theacademicianof Royal Academy ofSciences. Zhang Mengjie currently is a professor at theUniversity of Victoria in Wellington, New Zealand, a doctoral tutor and theVice Presidentof theCollege ofEngineering.
4. On December 5th, at the invitation oftheCollegeofAnimal Science and Technology, Prof.Ning Zhonghua,from China Agricultural University,came to HEBAU for academic exchanges. He made an academic report titled "BreedingInnovation andImproving theCompetitiveness ofDomesticHens" in the auditorium oftheCollegeofAnimal Science and Technology on west campus.
5. On December 5th, at the invitation oftheCollegeofForestry, Kang Xiangyang, a professor of Beijing Forestry University,delivered anacademic lectureinHEBAU. He made an academic report titled "Practice andKnowledge ofPolyploidBreeding ofTrees" in A2239, the auditorium oftheCollegeofForestry on western campus.
6. On December 8th, at the invitation oftheCollegeofPlant Protection, Gao Yulin,theVice Presidentof Asia-PacificRegion of the International Biological Control Organization (IOBC) and the researcher of Plant Protection Research InstituteofChinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences,came to HEBAU for academic exchanges. In the academicauditoriumoftheCollegeofPlant Protection,hedeliveredthe academic report titled "Selection of ScientificTopicsandPublication ofAcademicPapers".
7.On December 9th, at the invitation oftheCollegeofForestry, Pei Dong, a chief expert of walnut from the Chinese Academy of ForestrySciences,came toHEBAU for an academic report titled "Progress in Walnut Breeding Research" in the academicauditoriumoftheCollegeofForestry.
8.On December 10th, at the invitation oftheCollegeofForestry,Prof.Li Chengde from Northeast Forestry University and Zhang Zhen, the researcher of ChineseAcademy ofForestry Sciences,came toHEBAU for academic reportstitled"Several New DevelopmentsofInsect Classification System Studies”and“Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in Plant Protection”,respectively.
9.On December 5-17th, at the invitation of theCollege ofAgronomy, Dr. Michel Fok from the French Agronomy Development Research Center came toHEBAUfor academic exchanges. On December 14th, Dr. Michel Fok made an academic report titled "20 Years of GMVarietiesUse: LessonsLearnt" in the academic auditoriumof theCollege ofAgronomy. During the period,Vice Presidentof HEBAU,Ma Zhiying met Dr. Michel Fok and exchanged in-depth on bilateral scientific research cooperation.
10.On the evening of December 29th, eastern campus auditorium was filled with joyous festival atmosphere.The HEBAU New Year Gala of 2018 was performed here.Eighteeninternational students from9 countries, i.e.Ghana, Ethiopia, Sultan, Nepaland so on,wereperforming the program "Big China". The students were wearing Chinese traditional costumes, singing and dancing, and the audience could feel theculturalcollision between Chinese flavor and exotic styles. It is also an expression of the international students’love for China and HEBAU.
11.On the morning of January 5th, at the invitation of the College of Plant Protection, Dr. Li Qingxiao, a lifelong professor at the University of Hawaii, came to HEBAU for academic exchanges. Li Qingxiao made an academic report titled "Agrochemicals-basedAgriculture" and "ScientificWriting" at the academic auditorium of theCollegeofPlantProtection. More than 80 teachers and graduate students from the College of Plant Protection andthe College of Life Sciencesparticipated in the report conference.
12.FromJanuary 6thto 7th, at the invitation oftheCollegeofForestry, Prof.Li Fengri, dean and doctoral tutor oftheCollegeofForestry,Northeast Forestry University, made a special report on“Application ofModernStatisticalMethods inForestryModeling”in the academic auditorium oftheCollegeofForestryon western campus.
13.On the morning of January 28th,atthe Third Plenary Session of the twelfthsession of the Hebei provincial CPPCC,Ye Dongsongwaselected as theChairman of the provincial CPPCC. Ge Huibo, our alumni,was selected astheViceChairman of the CPPCC.
14.On January 29th,atthe first session of the thirteenth Hebei Provincial People's Congress,Wang Dongfeng was elected as thedirector of the Standing Committee of Hebei Provincial People's Congress; Wang Huiyong, our alumni, as thevice-director of the Standing Committee of Hebei Provincial People's Congress.
15.On February 24th,the censor Committee oftheTwelfth NPC’s censor report onthe qualificationof the representatives who would attend the ThirteenthSession of the National People's Congresswas voted and passed attheTwelfthMeeting of the NPCand the qualification of the2980representativesof theThirteenthNational People's Congress areconfirmed to beall valid. Guo Suping, a researcher of HEBAU, was elected as the representative of the Thirteenth National People's Congress.
